Mike D'Antoni Resigns as Head Coach of The Knicks

Mike D'Antoni resigned as head coach of the New York Knicks today. Rumors have been swirling around the coach's job security since the beginning of the season. D'Antoni was seeking a contract extension at the beginning of the year and was denied, so D'Antoni entered the season on the hot seat. The Knicks have fallen out of the playoff race losing 6 straight games. There was hope for D'Antoni when "Linsanity" was taking over the league, but since Carmelo's return the Knicks have won only two games. Rumors spread last week that Carmelo was not happy with the lack of touches he was getting in the 4th quarter. Melo denies the rumor but I'm pretty sure its true. D'Antoni was hired in 2008 and has only had one playoff appearance (last year). He was 121-167 as coach of the Knicks. Assistant coach, Mike Woodson will take over as interim head coach.
