All-Star Weekend Recap

The 2012 All-Star Weekend is now over. Here are some of the highs and lows:

          Celebrity All-Star Game

The Celebrity Game was a huge hit having some of the most relevant celebrities participate. None                                             bigger than Kevin Hart, who stole the show; winning the game MVP while being freaking hilarious!

         BBVA Rising Star Challenge

This is a better take on the Rookie-Sophomore game mixing teams with the best rookie and sophomore players. Rookie of The Year leader, Kyrie Irving won MVP scoring 34 points and shooting 8-8 from three. John Wall later turned the game into a dunk contest (more on the actual dunk contest later...smh)  taking advantage of the lack of defense.

Footlocker Shooting Stars Challenge (3pt contest)

This year's three point contest was entertaining with big name stars Kevin Durant and Kevin Love dueling in the final round. Kevin Love wins the challenge though many expected the NBA's 2nd leading scorer (Durant) to beat Love.

        Sprite Slam Dunk Contest

Where do I begin?! This years slam dunk contest was awful!!! There were four no-name players participating, way too many props and gimmicks were used and lastly the dunks weren't exciting! The NBA made a HUGE mistake by allowing fans to vote for the winner via twitter by using the hashtag #spriteslamdunk and the player of your choice's last name. Instead of voting, many people used this as an opportunity to express their disappointment with the contest. Such tweets as "#Spriteslamdunk Eatadick" and "#SpriteSlamdunk Yabitch" were tweeted instead of votes. The "#Spriteslamdunk Yabitch" tweet was hilarious though lol. Something has to be done to get the players that the fans want to see to participate so this doesn't happen again! I would love to see Blake Griffin vs LeBron James or Russell Westbrook, Derrick Rose and John Wall battle each other. But I highly doubt either of those will ever happen. Oh yea...Jeremy Evans won the dunk contest...WTF is a Jeremy Evans????

       NBA All-Star Game

The All-Star game was very entertaining! The best players shinned and gave fans something to cheer about having 40 dunks in the game. One thing I love about the all-star game is no matter how much of a blow out it is in the beginning of the game, in the last three minutes it is always close and exciting. The weekend overall was a success in my opinion.

Kevin Durant Wins First All-Star MVP

Kevin Durant wins the All-Star game MVP, as he led the West squad to a win over the East, 152-149. Durant scored 36 points and grabbed 7 rebounds on his way to his first All-Star game MVP. This all-star game wasn't only historic for KD, but Kobe Bryant and the game broke a few records as well. Kobe Bryant need 19 points to become the all time leading scorer in all-star game history (passing Jordan). Kobe wasted no time scoring 14 points in the 1st half. He broke the record with a dunk in the 3rd quarter and finished with 27 points. The West set a record with most points in a half in all-star history (88). This game was a blow out early with the West leading by 20+ at one point. The East made a furious comeback led by LeBron James 36 points; shooting 6-8 from three. LeBron almost took the MVP award from Durant but the East couldn't complete the comeback. Down by two with a minute to go, Dwayne Wade turns the ball over on a fast break opportunity. Later with 16 seconds left in the game, Deron Williams misses a three to win the game and with one last opportunity to win, LeBron James turns the ball over. Kevin Durant wins his 1st of three possible MVP awards this year (All-Star MVP, League MVP, Finals MVP). I think KD will go 2 for 3.

J-Rich!!!!

This what a real dunker looks like! One of the most underrated dunk contest greats, Jason Richardson

LeBron for MVP?....NO!

It is the mid way point of the NBA season. Who's your pick for MVP? Most people seem to be picking LeBron James. James is having yet another amazing season averaging 27.4 ppg, 8.1 rebs and 6.8 ast. Also, the Heat are tied with the Thunder for the best record in the league (27-7). These are definitely MVP numbers but I refuse to celebrate another great, but pointless season from LeBron James! Nothing this man does in the regular season excites me. I really don't care. The only thing that matters is what he does in the post season. Period. If the NBA rewards this man with another MVP, they give him more reason to be satisfied with himself. If he DOESN'T win MVP I am willing to guarantee that the Miami Heat will win the NBA Championship. "So if LeBron doesn't win, who will?!" I'm glad you asked! Kevin Durant should be the MVP! He is having an excellent season averaging 27.9 ppg and a career high 8.1 rebs. I believe it is Durant's time. This is his 5th year in the league and every year since his arrival in the NBA he has improved his play and his team. Also, he is the MOST valuable player on his team. Unlike LeBron who plays with two elite players, Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh.  Unless Kevin Durant has an awful second half of the NBA season, he should win MVP. But I doubt the NBA feels the same way.

With The First Pick In The Draft....

NFL Draft is next month and the Colts have the 1st in the draft. Who do you think they should pick? Andrew Luck (left) is considered a "once in a lifetime" talent, but Robert Griffin III is a more exciting and charismatic player. I think the Colts will go with the "Peyton Manning clone" in Andrew Luck but will it prove to be the right decision?

The Decision

This weekend was the beginning of the NFL Combine. Of course the biggest topic of the weekend so far has been the Indianapolis Colts and Peyton Manning. The Colts, coming off a 2-14 season because of Peyton Manning's season ending neck surgery, have the first pick in the draft. They are faced with a huge decision. Manning is due 28 million dollars by March 3rd. The Colts have to decide whether to pay a questionable Peyton Manning, or start a new era with a new quarterback. Peyton Manning, in my opinion, is the best player in the NFL and he has meant so much to the organization. I'm sure Manning doesn't want to leave and I'm sure the Colt's fans don't want to see him leave.

Kevin Hart to J.Cole!

J.Cole catches a perfect pass from Kevin Hart and throw it down!!!

Sheed To The Lakers?!

I hope this is true! If it is, then you'll have Metta World Peace and Rahseed Wallace in the same locker room....whoa! Plus you get awesome stuff like this ^^^^^

Vincanity!!!!

TNT should cancel this year's dunk contest and show 2000's instead...Vincanity!!!

All-Star Weekend!!!!!!

Today is the opening day of All-Star Weekend in Orlando. I am excited about it as I am every year. One thing  I'm not excited about is this year's dunk contest featuring a less than stellar line up of Jeremy Evans, Paul George, Derrick Williams, and Chase Budinger. I hope its more exciting then this line up suggest, but I don't count on it.

Best National Anthem Ever!!!

This is hands down the best national anthem ever done! I dare you to find one better!!!!

OU Grizzlies beat UMKC Kangaroos....(Really, The Kangaroos???)

Reggie Hamilton scores 31
Ok, I'm going to be posting OU basketball stuff regularly so get used to it! Reggie Hamilton and the OU Grizzlies beat UMKC Kangaroos 89-56. I didn't see this game but I didn't need to. The opposing team is named  "The Kangaroos"! They lost before the walked on the floor. But anyway, Reggie Hamiton continues his great play scoring 31 points and dishing 7 assist. (cough, cough...he's better than Trey Burke) Travis Bader scored 14, while Laval Lucas-Perry scored 17 for the Grizzlies.

Linsanity A No-Show In Miami

Lin and the Knicks lose to Wade and the Heat
Jeremy Lin and the Knicks lost to the Heat last night, 102-88. Lin had a tough night only scoring 8 points and committing 8 turnovers. The game was close for the entire first half despite poor play from Lin. Surprisingly, it was the Knick's defense that kept them in the game. The Knicks forced the Heat into 9 1st half turnovers. But the Knicks playing good defense could only last so long. The 2nd half belonged to the Heat; suffocating Lin and the Knicks with excellent defense and exposing Lin's weak ball handling skills. 'Melo scored 19 on 7-20 shooting while Amar'e put in 13. Chris Bosh lead the Heat with 25, while Wade score 22. LeBron had a near triple-double with 20 pts. 9 rebs. and 8 ast.
