After watching ESPN'S 30 for 30 "The Announcement" I have a new found respect for Magic Johnson. November 7th 1991 he announced to the world that he was retiring from the NBA because he contracted the HIV virus. Before his announcement, majority of people believed that HIV/AIDS was a disease only homosexual men and drug addicts could get. Magic Johnson was a public example that anyone can get it if you don't protect yourself. 20 years later Magic is still HIV positive (contrary to many people's belief) but he leads an extraordinary life as a business man and NBA Analysis.
