All-Star Weekend Recap
The 2012 All-Star Weekend is now over. Here are some of the highs and lows:
Celebrity All-Star Game
The Celebrity Game was a huge hit having some of the most relevant celebrities participate. None bigger than Kevin Hart, who stole the show; winning the game MVP while being freaking hilarious!
BBVA Rising Star Challenge
This is a better take on the Rookie-Sophomore game mixing teams with the best rookie and sophomore players. Rookie of The Year leader, Kyrie Irving won MVP scoring 34 points and shooting 8-8 from three. John Wall later turned the game into a dunk contest (more on the actual dunk contest later...smh) taking advantage of the lack of defense.
Footlocker Shooting Stars Challenge (3pt contest)
This year's three point contest was entertaining with big name stars Kevin Durant and Kevin Love dueling in the final round. Kevin Love wins the challenge though many expected the NBA's 2nd leading scorer (Durant) to beat Love.
Sprite Slam Dunk Contest
Where do I begin?! This years slam dunk contest was awful!!! There were four no-name players participating, way too many props and gimmicks were used and lastly the dunks weren't exciting! The NBA made a HUGE mistake by allowing fans to vote for the winner via twitter by using the hashtag #spriteslamdunk and the player of your choice's last name. Instead of voting, many people used this as an opportunity to express their disappointment with the contest. Such tweets as "#Spriteslamdunk Eatadick" and "#SpriteSlamdunk Yabitch" were tweeted instead of votes. The "#Spriteslamdunk Yabitch" tweet was hilarious though lol. Something has to be done to get the players that the fans want to see to participate so this doesn't happen again! I would love to see Blake Griffin vs LeBron James or Russell Westbrook, Derrick Rose and John Wall battle each other. But I highly doubt either of those will ever happen. Oh yea...Jeremy Evans won the dunk contest...WTF is a Jeremy Evans????
NBA All-Star Game
The All-Star game was very entertaining! The best players shinned and gave fans something to cheer about having 40 dunks in the game. One thing I love about the all-star game is no matter how much of a blow out it is in the beginning of the game, in the last three minutes it is always close and exciting. The weekend overall was a success in my opinion.
